HEY YOU! 9/11 Victims and Heros Rememberance.

  • On September 11, 2001 at 8:45 am, an American Airlines Boeing 767 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.  Then, 18 minutes after the first plane hit, a second Boeing 767–United Airlines Flight 175–appeared out of the sky, turned sharply toward the World Trade Center and sliced into the south tower near the 60th floor. Then, American Airlines Flight 77 circled over downtown Washington, D.C., and slammed into the west side of the Pentagon military headquarters at 9:45 a.m.
At 10:30 a.m., Trade Center Tower 7 collapsed. Close to 3,000 people died in the World Trade Center and its vicinity, including a staggering 343 firefighters and paramedics, 23 New York City police officers and 37 Port Authority police officers who were struggling to complete an evacuation of the buildings and save the office workers trapped on higher floors. Only six people in the World Trade Center towers at the time of their collapse survived. Almost 10,000 others were treated for injuries, many severe.
  • A fourth California-bound plane–United Flight 93–was hijacked about 40 minutes after leaving Newark International Airport in New Jersey. Because the plane had been delayed in taking off, passengers on board learned of events in New York and Washington via cell phone and Airfone calls to the ground. Knowing that the aircraft was not returning to an airport as the hijackers claimed, a group of passengers and flight attendants planned an insurrection. One of the passengers, Thomas Burnett Jr., told his wife over the phone that "I know
we're all going to die. There's three of us who are going to do something about it. I love you, honey." Another passenger–Todd Beamer–was heard saying "Are you guys ready? Let's roll" over an open line. Sandy Bradshaw, a flight attendant, called her husband and explained that she had slipped into a galley and was filling pitchers with boiling water. Her last words to him were "Everyone's running to first class. I've got to go. Bye."
The passengers are suspected to have attacked the cockpit with a fire extinguisher. The plane then flipped over and sped toward the ground at upwards of 500 miles per hour, crashing in a rural field in western Pennsylvania at 10:10 a.m. All 45 people aboard were killed.

I couldn't imagine knowing the pain of having one of your friends or family members be a victim of such a horrific tragedy. But what I can do is give my respects to the families, and never let them be forgotten.

OHH, COMPARE! The Hunger Games Book vs Movie

The greatest fear for readers is if their beloved book is made into a movie, the film ruins the original story when they try to bring it to the big screen.
When you read a good book, you see the entire story played out before you exactly the way it was written. The problem with books becoming movies, is that your watching someone else's view of the story and what they find important.
The key to a great director is that they keep the balance of the books story without changing too much of it, and still being able to make a powerful film.

THE HUNGER GAMES: 5 DIFFERENTCES

Gale Hawthorne:
More is revealed of Gale and Katniss' friendship in the movie than there was written in the book. In the original story, Gale wasn't seen after Katniss was sent to the Games but in the movie, we see him struggle as he watches Katniss battles for her life.
Quick Death
In the book, the deaths of the characters is way more gruesome and graphic than was shown in the movie. My guess, is that they wanted to keep the rating at PG-13.
Katniss and Rue:
There is an obvious friendship between Katniss and Rue. Unfortunately, the movie doesn't make clear that the reason for Katniss' protection of Rue is because she reminds her of Primrose, her little sister.
The Mutant Dogs:
The movie doesn't explain that the creatures that attacked Katniss and Peeta near the end of the Games were the other competitors transformed into Mutant Dogs. The film only shows that they were wild beasts chosen by Seneca Crane to speed up the Game.

The Beginning of the Revolution: The biggest change between the book and the movie is the reaction to Rue's death. The people of District 11 begin to revolt against the Capitol officers after seeing their young tribute die at the hands of a ruthless killer.

  • Do you think The Hunger Games movies will ruin the books?
  • What would you change in the story if you could?
  • Are you going to see the sequel movie, Catching Fire?

  • Directed By: Joseph Ruben
  • Released: February 8, 1991
  • Actors:
Julia Roberts(Laura Burney)
Patrick Bergin (Martin Burney)
Kevin Anderson (Ben Woodward)

  • Sum it Up!
Laura is the perfect housewife, she cooks, cleans and is  absolutely beautiful. Martin wants to take Laura out and sail on the ocean, but Laura is terrified of the water because she can't swim. When they do go out, a terrible storm hits and Laura falls overboard. Martin does all he can to find her, but they never find her.

  • Love, Like or Take a Hike?
I would give this a Like! I enjoy the empowering woman aspect of the movie, but everything seems so overdone. An abusive man, a helpless woman who stands up (or runs away), and the new man who is a knight in shining armor. The dialog is too dry for my liking, but I don't dislike the movie.

  • Sum it Up!
Carl Denham is willing to risk the life of his film crew, actors and himself for the movie of a lifetime. He holds in his hands a map to a mysterious unchartered island, with creatures the civilized world has never seen. The naïve director soon realizes they are in very real danger when the native people to the island take his leading actress Miss Darrow. Now it's up to a handful of men to find one woman in an unknown world.

  • Love, Like or Take a Hike?
I would give this a Like! The graphics in the movie are absolutely amazing, though I would expect nothing less from Peter Jackson. Sadly, I can't finish the movie. I always stop the movie before they capture Kong; it is too sad to watch them do that because it's a reflection on how people are abusing animals in real life. I don't know, maybe I'm putting too much feeling and thought into it, but It's my opinion. I do enjoy everything up to that point though!

Shane Obedzinski("Repeat")
Victor DiMattia (Timmy Timmons)
Brandon Adams(Kenny)
James Earl Jones (Mr. Mertle)
Marley Shelton(Wendy Peffercorn)

  • Sum it Up!
Summer just started, and Scotty Smalls doesn't have a friend for miles. A few of the local boys go down to the Sandlot to play some Baseball, this could be his chance. There's only one BIG problem, he can't even throw a baseball! But when the best ball player around, Benny Rodriguez helps Smalls out, he soon becomes one of the boys. It doesn't take long for Smalls to make a mess of things, and gets them into the biggest pickle they ever would be in!

  • Love, Like or Take a Hike?
I would give this a Love! It is a great story of true friendship. I would have taken out a few of the characters though. Like the Brothers, the tall nerdy kid and the quiet pitcher. They don't really stand out in the movie, and I think they should have been given better character roles. Other then that, this movie is great for all ages to enjoy.
