OHH, COMPARE! The Hunger Games Book vs Movie

The greatest fear for readers is if their beloved book is made into a movie, the film ruins the original story when they try to bring it to the big screen.
When you read a good book, you see the entire story played out before you exactly the way it was written. The problem with books becoming movies, is that your watching someone else's view of the story and what they find important.
The key to a great director is that they keep the balance of the books story without changing too much of it, and still being able to make a powerful film.

THE HUNGER GAMES: 5 DIFFERENTCES

Gale Hawthorne:
More is revealed of Gale and Katniss' friendship in the movie than there was written in the book. In the original story, Gale wasn't seen after Katniss was sent to the Games but in the movie, we see him struggle as he watches Katniss battles for her life.
Quick Death
In the book, the deaths of the characters is way more gruesome and graphic than was shown in the movie. My guess, is that they wanted to keep the rating at PG-13.
Katniss and Rue:
There is an obvious friendship between Katniss and Rue. Unfortunately, the movie doesn't make clear that the reason for Katniss' protection of Rue is because she reminds her of Primrose, her little sister.
The Mutant Dogs:
The movie doesn't explain that the creatures that attacked Katniss and Peeta near the end of the Games were the other competitors transformed into Mutant Dogs. The film only shows that they were wild beasts chosen by Seneca Crane to speed up the Game.

The Beginning of the Revolution: The biggest change between the book and the movie is the reaction to Rue's death. The people of District 11 begin to revolt against the Capitol officers after seeing their young tribute die at the hands of a ruthless killer.

It's That Time? (Put your answers in the comments)

  • Do you think The Hunger Games movies will ruin the books?
  • What would you change in the story if you could?
  • Are you going to see the sequel movie, Catching Fire?

Is there anything you want me to Ohh, Compare? Let me know
